“God in the Grip”
by Tiffanie Chin
I thought I had to do it all alone—
climb out of the darkness,
earn every breath of peace,
fight for the freedom I already owned.
But God was always in the grip.
Even when my hands were tied,
He was loosening the knots.
Even when I wept over bills,
He whispered abundance
into my spirit.
These balloons—
money, peace, self-love—
they floated to me
when I finally let go of fear
and reached in faith.
I am not a prisoner of lack,
not a victim of silence.
I am divinely supported—
chosen, cherished,
held.
With every step I take,
He walks ahead.
With every prayer I breathe,
He answers in action.
This painting?
It’s proof—
that my hands are no longer bound.
They are free,
raised to receive,
open to give,
ready to rise.
Because I saved myself,
but not alone—
God lifted me
into everything I was meant to hold.
